Is Counselling right for me?
Throughout our lives many of us face challenging situations. Sometimes we are able to deal with things ourselves, but at other times our own coping strategies aren’t enough. A supportive, trusting environment where you feel safe to explore personal situations in depth can help you to achieve clarity and understanding.
How does it work?
In counselling you will be talking about yourself and your situation — how you feel and what you think. My role as your therapist is to provide objectivity and to highlight aspects you may not have considered. This illuminates possibilities, empowering you to consider your options.
How long does it take?
Many people seek counselling for a particular practical and immediate issue. In this case, usually only a few sessions are needed.
In some cases, psychotherapy will be a better approach. For example, where a situation reflects accumulated troubles or the person hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the issues and themselves.
